Stephen Walker is a Business Psychologist and a senior partner at Brentfield
Consultancy, a practice that specialises in designing assessment and
development processes for recruitment, management and leadership
development that add measurable ROI. In his early 20s he trained as an accountant. He travelled and worked extensively abroad and has
experienced war zones and luxury resorts during his travels.
After completing his Psychology degrees, he lectured in Psychology and Statistics
at the University of London. During this time he was actively involved in
research and developed his theoretical knowledge by working as a
consultant Psychologist with various organisations. His own area of professional practice has focused on methods of
developing individuals and organisations by the use of sophisticated
statistical modelling, designing practical assessments and tests for
leadership/management development and selection programmes. He adds
value by his practical approach to improving these processes by the
application of research on equal opportunities and development.
He has a special interest in Emotional Intelligence and how it is assessed and developed. He was part of the team that developed the Emotions and
Behaviours at Work business model and psychometric system
(www.ebwonline.com) in the late 1990s. It is now used worldwide by a broad spectrum of consultants and organisations and is available in multi‐
languages (including Chinese and Arabic).
As well as his role at Brentfield he works as a part‐time business coach and
mentor for a small selection of ‘start ups’ and organisations that are based
in the United Kingdom. When he has time, he continues to give guest
lectures at the University of London and provide research supervision to
students.
His personal interests include sailing, scuba diving and riding motorcycles.
He believes passionately in life/work balance and when not working spends
his time with his family and friends sailing around the south coast of
England and Europe. He has completed many long sailing trips and is due to
take part in the 10 day single handed Azores race in 2011.
Stephen’s life and work experience enables him to communicate
complicated ideas simply and effectively for different audiences. Whether
consulting, lecturing or training it is not only his experience but Stephen’s
passion for his subject that allows him to listen actively and work at a solution until the right result is achieved.
