IFRS for Banks and Other Financial Institutions

Finance, Accounting and IT

Duration: Other

Workshop Description

This two-day programme offers invaluable guidance in meeting current and future international accounting rules and disclosure requirements. The complex requirements of IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement, and its replacement IFRS 9 are discussed and explained in detail. Coverage includes the newly issued IFRS 13: Fair Value Measurement as well as lending, property, plant and equipment, accounting implications on regulatory requirements, disclosures, and revenue recognition. Numerous examples and illustrations are provided, including application of the effective interest method under various scenarios, securitisations, retained servicing, loan commitments, loan impairment and restructurings, and derivatives and hedging.
Moreover it explains the impact to Banks and Financial Institutions from the transition to the new IFRS 9 standard, and also analyses other recent key IFRS developments affecting Banks such as fair value measurement, financial statement presentation, non-financial liabilities and revenue recognition.
ICTN’s training programs focus not only on the essential skills but on the overall attitude of those who must apply these skills to guarantee organizational success. You can teach your people, BUT, you cannot make them want to apply the acquired skills on a daily basis.   This is why ICTN pays great attention to the psychology of your employees; because we know that this is the trigger that motivates employees to WANT to apply the skills they have learned.
